Group 1 Automotive is looking for driven, curious interns to join our tax team. The candidate will have opportunities to gain experience in the retail automotive industry and tax laws applying to domestic, foreign, and cross-border transactions. The candidate will join an experienced tax team who will help the candidate develop his/her tax career. What You’ll Do:

 

As a Tax Intern at Group 1 Automotive, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and exposure to various aspects of corporate tax. We are looking for someone who is detail oriented, self-motivated with the willingness to learn a variety of tax technical areas. The candidate should have excellent problem- solving skills, strong teamwork skills, strong work ethics, high professionalism, and effective oral and written communication skills. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft memorandums to document tax positions
  • Assist in the preparation of Federal Income Tax Returns
  • Research certain federal and state tax matters.
  • Assist with Fixed Asset processes.
  • Assist with various Property Tax functions.

Qualifications:

  • Junior or Senior status currently pursuing a degree in accounting.
  • Preferred Minimum of a 3.00 cumulative GPA
  • Strong interest in taxation and desire to pursue a career in tax.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and tax regulations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
