Brief Description:

We are seeking an experienced Workday Payroll Business Analyst to serve as the primary liaison between the Payroll and HRIS teams. This role is responsible for driving process improvements, system enhancements, and issue resolution within Workday Payroll. The analyst will also play a critical role in training, mentoring, and coaching the Payroll team to ensure effective system use and best practices.  The ideal candidate will bring deep Payroll expertise combined with strong Workday Payroll technical experience, enabling them to translate business needs into system solutions that improve efficiency, compliance, and employee experience.

  • Direct Supervisor: Senior Payroll Manager
  • Schedule: 8:00 AM-5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, Overtime as necessary

 

Description of Responsibilities:

  • Business Analysis & System Support
    • Act as the main liaison between Payroll and HRIS teams to gather requirements, evaluate system capabilities, and deliver enhancements.
    • Analyze current Payroll processes and recommend improvements aligned with industry best practices and compliance standards.
    • Troubleshoot payroll-related system issues, coordinate fixes, and ensure successful resolution.
    • Partner with HRIS on testing, validating, and deploying Workday Payroll updates, enhancements, and new features.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Workday Payroll functionality, configuration, and release updates.
  • Process Improvements & Enhancements
    • Identify and document opportunities to streamline Payroll processes through automation, configuration, or policy adjustments.
    • Collaborate cross-functionally to design and implement scalable Payroll solutions.
    • Ensure solutions are aligned with compliance, accuracy, and efficiency goals.
  • Training, Coaching & Knowledge Sharing
    • Develop and deliver training programs for Payroll team members on Workday Payroll functionality, processes, and best practices.
    • Coach Payroll staff on troubleshooting, data validation, and system navigation.
    • Create and maintain user guides, process documentation, and reference materials for ongoing team support.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Work closely with Payroll, HR, HRIS, Finance, and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment on business needs and system delivery.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for Workday Payroll and provide insights during audits and compliance reviews.
    • Provide reporting and analytics support for Payroll and HR leadership as needed.

Desired Qualifications/Requirements:

 

  • Required:
    • 5+ years of hands-on Payroll experience with in-depth knowledge of payroll processes, compliance, and regulations.
    • 3+ years of Workday Payroll configuration and technical experience, including system support, testing, and enhancements.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate business requirements into system solutions.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis and long-term solutions.
    • Proven ability to train, coach, and mentor Payroll professionals.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills to engage stakeholders across functions.
  • Preferred:
    • Experience in large, multi-state or multi-country payroll environments.
    • Knowledge of Workday integrations, reporting, and security.
    • Prior experience supporting Payroll system upgrades or implementations.
