Houston-based Group 1 Automotive, Inc., an international, Fortune 300 automotive retailer and a leading operator in the automotive retailing industry, is seeking a Human Resources Coordinator. This is a key Human Resources position based in Anaheim and /or Los Angeles CA area to directly support Group 1 employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Process pre-employment background checks and drug tests for applicants in a timely manner and keep hiring managers up-to-date on the status.
- Conduct employee orientation and onboarding for new hires.
- Enter new hires into HRIS system (Workday) and maintain electronic personnel files in DocuWare.
- Knowledge & experience of CA employment law, State Paid Family Leave, CA EDD etc.
- Answer general employee inquiries, including login issues, personal information changes, and assisting with pay questions.
- Serve as liaison between employees and corporate Risk department regarding workers compensation accidents.
- Leave of Absence (LOA) administration: confirm last day worked with manager, place employees on and off leave per acknowledgement and determinations from New York Life Group 1 Auto’s 3rd party admin for all LOAs
- Ensure compliance with labor law and other required company postings at locations.
- Maintain confidentiality of company and employee information at all times.
- Collaborate with Corporate HR staff on matters related to benefits, employee communications, internal and external compliance.
- Employee may be required to perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 2-3 years Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) experience
- 2-3 years of California (CA) specific HR experience
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with dealerships
- Experience in responding to complex inquiries or complaints from customers, employees, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to write effectively and work proficiently within MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Some travel throughout the CA market for periodic visits to locations.
- Possess a high degree of emotional intelligence and the ability to create meaningful relationships and successfully navigate diverse stakeholder groups.
- Maintains a professional demeanor and appearance.
